Interfaith Walk of Peace

Event Details

The Miami Valley Islamic Association (aka Masjid Al-Madina) will host its second annual Peace Walk. The public gesture of solidarity started last year as a response to the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando in which 49 people and the gunman died. To send the message that Islam means “peace,” the Miami Valley Islamic Association organized a walk, a series of speeches (including one from Deacon Rick), and a $10,000 contribution to the families affected by the violence in Orlando. This year, the mosque continues its gesture of interfaith peace and human connection with another walk, which starts at City Hall (76 E. High St.) and finishes in the same location.
