On Maundy Thursday, we celebrate the institution of the Lord’s Supper, the night when Jesus shared bread and wine with his friends and commanded us to do the same in remembrance of him. We gather in the Parish Hall for a simple meal that includes the prayers and scripture readings for the day, along with (optional) foot washing, and Holy Eucharist. At the close of the meal, we process to the church together by candlelight for the stripping of the altar. We leave the church silently in darkness.
